Zanthus Wins Top Honors for Design

Zanthus' Design Director, Matt Morasky, accepted top prize in the Corporate Identity category at the Second Annual Portland Design Festival. The gold award, presented for his work on the Kevin Jones Copywriting identity, was among twenty prizes given to firms representing the best in regional graphic, product, and architectural design.

"It's an honor to be recognized among so much local talent." said Morasky, referring to Portland creative powerhouses such as Nike, Adidas, Ziba Design, Plazm and Second Story Productions. "They all start with great ideas. Kevin Jones gave us the opportunity to do the same with his identity."

The winning design prominently features silohuette illustrations of a single character performing circus and carnival tricks such as balancing spinning plates and juggling knives. Morasky explained: "The parallels between freelance copywriting and side-show feats are almost scary. When we hit upon the 'one-man show' concept, we knew it was the right expression of creativity and professionalism our client was seeking."

Renowned designer (and festival judge) Moira Cullen agreed.
Zanthus' solution is "a smart, engaging way to personalize the juggling, balancing, flexibility and heavy lifting required of a copywriter," she said.
